Can you destroy SSDs?

Yes. SSDs can be wiped at the firmware level and physically shredded. For SSDs with sensitive data, we recommend physical shredding.

What happens to destroyed materials?

Shredded fragments go to certified recycling facilities where materials are separated and reused — ferrous metals are recovered for steel mills, non-ferrous metals like aluminum are separated via eddy current, plastics are pelletized, and circuit boards are sent to refiners for gold, palladium and copper recovery. Nothing usable ends up in a landfill.

What is the difference between drive wiping and drive destruction?

Drive wiping overwrites data so it cannot be recovered, but the physical drive remains functional. Drive destruction is physical shredding, where both the data and the drive are rendered unusable.
