When you are closing an office or downsizing, you cannot just yank cables and toss network equipment in the trash. Removal and proper disposal of low voltage cabling and electronic equipment ensures your company is being environmentally responsible.

Shutting Down Your Facility To Meet Original Lease Conditions

Shutting Down Your Facility To Meet Original Lease Conditions

Data center decommissioning is the structured process of powering off, disconnecting, removing and disposing of all IT infrastructure. It involves asset inventory, secure data destruction, cable removal, and proper e-waste procedures.

Professional data center decommission with cable removal, equipment teardown, and server rack disassembly

A data center decommission done wrong exposes your company to data breaches and compliance violations from your building management. Done right, it's smooth and stress-free.

Complete Tear-Down

Racks, cabinets and data cabling are fully removed. Floor tiles are cleaned, walls patched and painted. The room is stripped back to base building so the space is lease-ready.

Data Destruction

NIST 800-88 compliant data wiping and physical shredding. Certificates of Destruction issued for every storage device upon request.

Electronic Recycling

Network equipment and data cabling is safely removed, sorted and taken to verified R2 recycling facilities.

Timeline depends on three things: the size of your facility, the number of cables and amount of equipment, and the date your lease ends. We schedule and scale our teams to keep the project on time and on budget.
If you are not planning to keep or repurpose your storage media devices (hard drives, SSDs, tape drives, etc.) then we recommend that you destroy the data on them for security reasons. Every asset is inventoried. Certificates of Destruction available upon request. On-site shredding is available as well.
Equipment intended for future reuse, such as servers and storage arrays, can have its hard drives securely wiped and documented with a Certificate of Wipe. If data removal is not required, our technicians can instead inventory, pack, and label the equipment for transport to another facility.
Empty. We always do whatever is needed to meet your original lease conditions. Walls are patched and painted, and floors are cleaned. You do a final walkthrough to sign off before the facility is vacated.
Yes, we schedule the project by working backwards from your lease end date to ensure that it gets done on time.
Decommissioning is a permanent shutdown –– cables are removed, equipment is disconnected and recycled, and data is destroyed. Relocation involves moving equipment from your current facility to a new one where it will continue to operate. Many projects include elements of both.
